FOLKESTONE FESTIVALS LAUNCHES IT’S 2019 EVENTS PROGRAMME

Folkestone Festivals are pleased to announce details of their 2019 programme of fantastic free events for the town of Folkestone and are already looking forward to announcing a new event in 2020!

On Saturday 13th July, a new event will be introduced at Folkestone’s Famous Bandstand on The Leas with a Vintage Festival and Music Day taking place. Folkestone Festivals is hopeful this event might be replicated across several weekends in the summer of 2020 and are seeking sponsorship or donations to make this happen.

The idea has come about to recognise the 120 years the Bandstand has been in place and to mark it’s importance to the town. Folkestone Festivals would like to lay on a series of events around the Leas Cliff Hall and the Bandstand to commemorate the different styles of music through the past 120 years. There are numerous local music groups, dancers and singers and Folkestone Festivals would welcome interest from potential participants.

On the 13th July, plans are already developed for the Vintage Festival when live music from Vintage Ruby, The Dulcettes, Lindy Hoppers and Folkestone Community Swing Band will entertain the crowds. Classic vehicles will also provide static displays. Vintage amusements, Punch and Judy Shows and a host of other things will make the day go with a swing! Stall holders selling vintage and retro goods as well as craft and food will add to the ambiance of the event. Dressing up in the style of the era is also welcome.

Enquiries are welcome from those who would like to take part. For stalls contact neville@folkestonefestivals.org and for entertainment and other information; john@folkestonefestivals.org

As well as the new Vintage Festival, old favourites make a welcome return including “One Great Day” in partnership with Bouverie Place Shopping Centre as well as the UK Strongest Man Competition. Back for it’s second year is the successful Mariner’s Cake-Off Competition and Fun Day on Folkestone’s Stade on 28th September. These great events complement Festivals’ regular events with Music at the Bandstand commencing Sunday May 26th through to September 8th and the brilliant monthly ArtMarts which take place on the last Friday of the month from March to November with a special Christmas date of 20th December.
